Get to Know Us
Our goal is to prepare you to attain the best possible positions of leadership in education, research, and the community of science locally and globally. As a graduate school within the only Veterinary College in Texas, students receive rigorous scientific training in basic, translational and clinical sciences, while maintaining a focus on how discoveries impact the environment, as well as animal and human health. We follow a “OneHealth” approach to graduate training
In VTPP, graduate students learn from and work alongside scientists who are leaders in their fields. Our multi-disciplinary research engine drives collaboration and interactions between faculty and trainees, bringing diverse perspectives to bear on the most pressing questions in the biomedical sciences.
Find Where You Fit
Our interdisciplinary programs integrate related research across basic science and clinical departments and academic centers. Because our faculty members have the freedom to join focus areas based on their research interests rather than being locked into a departmental structure, you will interact with faculty who bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to your chosen field of study.
Supporting Your Progress
Research in VTPP is multidisciplinary and we are recognized internationally for research in toxicology, reproductive and developmental biology, cardiovascular biology, regenerative sciences and bone biology. The department occupies extensive, modern facilities generously equipped with a full range of instrumentation required for research in cellular, molecular, developmental, and bone biology. Modern gene editing facilities provides state-of-the-art technology to generate transgenic models in species such as mice, sheep and goats that are used by many faculty and students. The high level of cooperation among the various departments within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the Texas A&M University scientific community provide access to unparalleled research facilities.
Life in College Station
No one expects to get rich while in graduate school. But, the comparatively low cost of living and abundant housing and entertainment options in Bryan/College Station (and the surrounding cities of Houston and Austin) ensures your student stipend can stretch even further.
