Science in Action

The January 2021 highlighted “VTPP Science in Action” article (link included below) comes the laboratory of Dr. Stephen Safe and features important input from a new BIMS Masters student, Marcell Howard. The article reviews the literature around the biological action of the flavonoids and in particular highlights the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) in these myriad actions. The figure to the right summarizes the potential interactions of flavonoids with cellular signaling pathways. The article clearly identifies future experimental paradigms that should be interrogated. Congratulations again to all the members of the team for the study. There is still much to be learned and done!
